The Saskatoon Fire Department dealt with four fires since Friday, three of which are deemed arson, with a damage estimate more than $200,000.
When firefighters arrived on the scene of a garage fire in the 100 block of Avenue Q South just after 1 p.m. on Sunday they were greeted by heavy smoke coming from a large, four-car, partially boarded up detached garage. The fire was contained in 20 minutes. There were no people or pets inside and no one was hurt. A fire investigator is working on a cause and damage estimate.

A call came in from an alarm company of a fire in a building in the 500 block of Queen Street shortly after 8 Sunday morning. The fire was on the main level of the building and multiple utilities were also affected. No one was hurt and damage is estimated at $60,000. The fire has been declared incendiary – or arson.
There was also a fire on Friday night on John G Egnatoff School where one person suffered burns to the neck and back but no damage to the school. That too is considered arson.
And a fire Saturday morning at a boarded up home in the 400 block of Avenue G south is considered arson. A cat was found unhurt in the basement and was rescued. Damage there is pegged at 150 thousand dollars.
