A Sunday evening armed robbery along Diefenbaker Drive in Saskatoon has resulted in police arresting five people with a myriad of charges.
At about 10 p.m., a group of males approached a lone person at a business in the 3000 block of Diefenbaker Drive and demanded the keys to that person’s vehicle. One of the males had a gun and they all fled in a white Ford truck. Between tracking by the police plane and the utilization of a spike belt, the truck eventually stopped west of Saskatoon on Highway 14, at which time four of the males were arrested inside the truck and the fifth was apprehended a short distance away. One of the males was found to be in possession of brass knuckles. All five men are charged with robbery and use of a firearm. Two of the suspects are 26-years-old, one is 20 and the other two males are 19. One of the 26 year-olds faces additional charges of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, mischief under five-thousand dollars and possession of a firearm contrary to an order. The other 26-year-old is also charged with obstruction and possession of a firearm contrary to an order. The 20-year-old was the driver of the fleeing, stolen vehicle and was charged with dangerous driving and evading police. One of the 19-year-old males was found to be breaching his court conditions.
