The Saskatoon SPCA is struggling with cat overpopulation. The Executive Director says the mandate of the shelter is to provide care for Saskatoon’s homeless, lost, abandoned, neglected and abused animals and Graham Dickson says they can’t keep up.
The shelter has 127 cats with another 57 in foster care and they are at capacity. They have introduced the Purrfect Pairing initiative which allows families who are interested in adopting multiple cats to do so at a decreased cost. Until the end of September anyone who has ever adopted an animal from the shelter will receive $95 off their next cat adoption.
As of Tuesday, there are 44 cats ready to be adopted and Dickson says they are just waiting for their second chance.
All adoptable cats can be viewed and applied for here.
