The serious 5-vehicle accident emergency crews responded to early Tuesday afternoon near Wakaw was a fatal one.
RCMP say around 1 Tuesday afternoon at a construction zone on Highway 41, a semi rear-ended 4 vehicles that were in line.
The 69 year old man who was the lone occupant of the vehicle immediately in front of the truck was declared dead on scene.
Other motorists sustained non life threatening injuries and were either treated on scene or transported to hospital.
Police don’t believe alcohol was a factor in this accident.
The driver of the semi, 38 year old Gurmeet Singh Cheema was arrested and charged with dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
He made his first court appearance Wednesday in Melfort.
