A tenth person has been arrested in relation to the ongoing homicide investigation of Tiki Laverdiere’s death.
On Wednesday, the Edmonton Police Service arrested a 36 year old man wanted by the RCMP Major Crimes Unit – North on a Canada-wide warrant for his role in Laverdiere’s murder.
Samuel Takakenew is charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
He remains in custody and will be returned to North Battleford next week.
The 36 year old is the son of Mavis Takakenew, who was arrested last August with the same charge.
Her case has already been through the courts.
She was sentenced to 18 months in jail on May 15th.
After remand, she had just over 4 months to serve.
In April of last year, Laverdiere traveled from Edmonton to a funeral on the Thunderchild First Nation, and RCMP say she was last seen in North Battleford on May 1st.
Her remains were found on July 12th in a rural area outside of North Battleford.
