The federal government is extending the application deadline for the Canada Emergency Business Account to October 31st. Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland also announced the government is working with financial institutions to make the program available to businesses who have not qualified to date. The businesses will still have to meet all of the existing eligibility criteria. She also announced the Business Credit Availability program has been extended to June, 2021.
The Canadian Federation of Independent Business issued a statement today in the wake of the federal government announcing that CEBA will be extended.
The CFIB says it is pleased the Canada Emergency Business Account program will be extended to October 31st and that businesses with personal banking accounts will soon be able to apply. The CFIB believes the program has been a critical lifeline to 730,000 small firms including nearly 60% of CFIB’s members. They note that extending CEBA to the end of October means more firms can access the support. [cjgx ]
