On the heels of the Opposition NDP calling out the Saskatchewan government over COVID-19 testing goals combined with what they say is a shortage of lab technicians, the province announced today it is going to address the laboratory and x-ray technologist shortage.
Working with Saskatchewan Polytechnic, the government says SaskPolytech will double the number of seats in the CLXT pgoram by admitting another 20 students in early 2021.
Advanced Education Minister Tina Beaudry-Mellor says they are ensuring there is increased training capacity to meet labour market needs.
Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s President and CEO Dr. Larry Rosia says the school is one of two centres in Canada where students can complete the Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologists diploma program.
