September is Milk Month for the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre.
Deborah Hamp, Director of Operations and Engagement says they are calling on the public for support of their Milk for Children Program which last year provided 96,785 litres of fresh milk for children and pregnant and nursing women in the community.
Milk Month is a partnership with Cantopex who will be matching public donations throughout September, up to $50,000. Hamp says the goal will be to raise $100,000 and that all the dollars raised will go towards purchasing milk, which is then distributed to the food bank and emergency hampers.
Hamp explains during the pandemic the food bank is seeing an increased need from agencies that serve vulnerable members of the community and with people being cautious and staying home the food bank has had to do a lot more distribution in different ways.
