The Saskatchewan Realtors Association says although the August market appeared to be slowing down compared to earlier in the summer, there are still signs of strength.
Year-over-year, sales were up over 46 per cent from August of 2019 and up over 14 per cent year-to-date.
CEO Jason Yochim says the pandemic doesn’t seem to have turned people off from buying and selling real estate, and after the shut down with 2 months of slow activity, the market has almost made up all of that lost ground. He explains that August tends to be when things start to slow down a little, but the market is in line with historical trends, and the SRA sees generally strong performance.
In Saskatoon, comparing August of last year to this year, sales were up almost 42 per cent.
In Regina, sales were up just over 40 per cent and in North Battleford, sales were up 210 per cent from 10 in August in 2019 to 31 last month. In Prince Albert, sales were up almost 19 per cent.
