An eighth person has been charged in connection to the homicide investigation of Tiki Brook-Lyn Laverdiere.
The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit North has arrested 55 year old Mavis Quinn Takakenew of North Battleford and charged her with Accessory after the fact to Murder.
Takakenew is in court Friday morning. Meanwhile, RCMP are still working to locate and arrest Nikita Sandra Cook of the Onion Lake Cree Nation. She is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for First Degree Murder and Kidnapping.
RCMP also stress that she should not be approached and anyone with information is asked to contact their local RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
Tiki Laverdiere traveled to the North Battleford area for a funeral in April and disappeared. Her remains were found on July 11th just outside of the city.
Soaring Eagle Whitstone, 33 years old, from the Onion Lake Cree Nation, is charged with 1st degree murder, kidnapping, improperly interfering with a human body and vehicle theft.
The mother of the man whose funeral Laverdiere attended, Nicole Cook, is also facing those same charges along with two north Battleford women, 27 year old Shayla Orthner and 32 year old Danita Thomas.
Both 18 year old Brent Checkosis and 23 year old Jesse Sangster are charged with accessory after the fact to murder and vehicle theft. Checkosis is also charged with interfering with human remains.
