The Saskatchewan Research Network believes the pandemic introduced schools to more online learning and expects that will continue, to enhance in person learning, even after a vaccine is found.
President and CEO of the not-for-profit organization, Chad Coller, says SR Net’s digital infrastructure provides its members with an ultra-high capacity network which comes in handy when delivering education online.
Two school divisions have become members of SR Net, Saskatoon Public Schools and Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, and Coller hopes more will sign on.
He says originally, they were focused more on research with university and college memberships, along with research labs and the Saskatchewan Research Council, but now they are expanding to school divisions.
SR Net hopes to develop a shared purchasing model for I.T. to bring down the cost of equipment across the education sector, so members can accomplish more with the same amount of money.
