Charlie Clark says his work as Mayor is not over.
At a media conference Friday, Clark says his focus if re-elected will be to build a strong economic future and to make sure no one is left behind. Clark has 3 priorities to make this happen keeping people working, keeping people safe, and continuing to strengthen quality of life in Saskatoon.
His focus for the next 4 years he says will be to continue to drive the economic recovery from COVID -19 by strengthening the local economy and building opportunity in the global economy for Saskatoon. Clark says his goals for a next term would be to address failures in the current policing system to keep citizens safe, supporting new models of policing, and introducing new systems that better address the route causes of crime. Clark states he will continue infrastructure improvements and investments in facilities that keep citizens active, healthy and proud of the city, while keeping taxes low.
Clark pointed to promoting Saskatoon as a growing tech hub, creating a round table with the home builders association to keep people working. He has been working with the Board of Police Commissioners for multiple issues, including tackling the growing crystal meth crisis in the city. Significant progress, Clark says, has been made to identify a location for the new downtown entertainment district, and the city has seen unprecedented new residential developments in the downtown and city
Clark says during a crisis like COVID-19, he believes it is essential to have leadership that brings the community together as a team, rather then dividing it. He adds this election will determine the path the city takes, forwards or backwards, for the economy, safety of citizens and quality the of life. Clark says his goal is to move Saskatoon forward.
