Home sales through MLS listings rose across Canada for the fifth consecutive month in July, but that’s not the case for Saskatchewan. The Canadian Real Estate Association reports that the monthly increase was mostly experienced in Vancouver and Toronto and surrounding areas, with 12.6 per cent more sales this past July than last year.
CREA says across the Prairies, the supply levels are higher so the average price has come down by 4.4 per cent in Regina, 1.3 per cent in Saskatoon, 3.5 per cent in Calgary and 3.2 per cent in Edmonton.
According to CREA’s national map the average price for a home from the MLS listings in Regina in July of last year was $281,900, and last month it was $269,400. In Saskatoon, it was $291,429 and this July, was at $286,432. These prices are an average from the sales of single and multi-unit homes.
If you take out the two most expensive markets, Toronto and Vancouver, the national average home price across Canada from MLS listings was just less than $393,000.
