Saskatoon Public Schools says they have been notified by the Saskatchewan Health Authority they have two cases of COVID-19 in their schools. One case is at Colette Bourgonje School and the other case was at James L Alexander School. The Saskatoon Public Schools notes safety protocols have been put in place such as mask requirements, proper hand hygiene, physical distancing when possible, and cohorting classes.
Prairie Spirit School Division says a positive COVID-19 case has been discovered at Valley Manor Elementary school in Martensville. The Saskatchewan Health Authority has not yet confirmed it, but a letter sent to parents of students at McNaughton High School in Moosomin says a case of COVID-19 has been discovered. School officials have not indicated if the person is a student, teacher or staff member, but they are working with public health to ensure safety measures are in place.
SHA is conducting contact tracing. Public Health officials will be directly contacting individuals who may have been in close contact with the diagnosed students. Risk of exposure to anyone who was not in close contact is considered very low.
Students and families are reminded to be diligent in performing the daily health screening, stay home if ill, call HealthLine 811 if exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, practice proper hand hygiene, maintain physical distancing as much as possible, and wear a mask when appropriate.
Another warning from the Saskatchewan Health Authority about someone testing COVID-19 positive visiting a variety of Saskatoon locations when they were likely infectious. Anyone who was at the locations at the dates and times specified is advised to self-isolate if they have had, or have, symptoms and to call HealthLine 811 to arrange for testing.
