The city’s general manger of transportation and construction is calling traffic disruptions Monday morning at the CN crossing on 11th street unacceptable.

Construction on the railway crossing on 11th street was supposed to be completed on Sunday afternoon but work was still being completed on Monday morning, with a reported lack of communication to residents of the area causing disruptions.

Terry Schmidt says steps need to be taken to mitigate this from occurring again. He says not only does this cause inconvenience for residents it is also a safety issue.

Schmidt says a review of processes and procedures will be requested so that when projects don’t go as planned, communications between CN, the city, residents, the media and first responders are ready.

Schmidt adds this work is currently underway.
