Saskatchewan had a population of 1,178,681 at the beginning of the third quarter of the year, according to Statistics Canada population estimates. That’s an increase of 6,379 from the same period a year ago. But it’s a decline of 937 from the beginning of the second quarter of this year. As of July first, Saskatchewan had the highest proportion of children up to the age of 14 at 19.6 per cent. People aged 65 or older make up 16.2 per cent of our population. Saskatchewan’s median age is 37.8. Canada’s population has passed the 38 million mark at 38,005,238.
