Overnight temperatures got quite cool for the middle of August throughout the night in some Saskatchewan communities.
In Saskatoon the mercury fell to +0.7 degrees Celsius overnight, which broke the previous record set in 1940 at 2.2 degrees.
Regina came close to breaking their record as the temperature overnight in the Queen City fell to 2.8 degrees. Sara Hoffman with Environment Canada says they have records showing past lows of 2.6 for Regina, therefore the overnight temperature came within .2 degrees of tying the record.
It was a few degrees warmer in Prince Albert overnight with a low of 5 degrees. Hoffman says the Prince Albert area had quite a bit of cloud cover while Highway 11 between Saskatoon and Regina had quite clear skies, allowing it to cool off faster than the rest of the province.
Last Mountain Lake recorded below-freezing temperatures of – 0.6, while North Battleford dipped to – 0.5 degrees Celsius.
Overnight temperatures are expected to be around plus 4 overnight Sunday and into Monday morning for Saskatoon and Prince Albert.
