Firefighters from Saskatoon and Martensville worked into the night to contain a fire at a salvage yard. Shortly after two o’clock Thursday afternoon, the Martensville department asked for help from Saskatoon in containing the blaze north of the city, next to Highway 12. Warman and Dalmeny fire crews were also called in. The fire had gone deep into the pile of combustible debris, making it difficult to effectively apply water. Heavy equipment was being used to dig into the pile to reach the deeper areas of the fire. It also created a fire break, protecting a nearby building. At last word Friday morning, the Martensville Fire Department remains at the site.
