The Prime Minister has announced more funding to help the economic fallout due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Justin Trudeau says his government is investing another $600 million for the Regional Relief and Recovery Fund. He says it will support the Community Futures Network and five regional development agencies including Western Economic Diversification.
Trudeau also announced $50 million to support organizations that provide services to women and children who face domestic violence. He says it will include $10 million for women’s shelters and sexual assault centres across the country and another $10 million for gender-based violence service that support indigenous women and children living off reserve.
The remaining $30 million will go to organizations to combat gender-based violence, including counseling, support and crisis intervention.
