A public inquest into the death of Austin Eaglechief will be held starting today through to August 23rd in Saskatoon at Court of Queen’s Bench.
22 year old Eaglechief was in a vehicle being pursued by Saskatoon Police June 19, 2017.
The vehicle he was in was a stolen truck that rammed the police cruiser. The truck also collided with another vehicle during the high speed chase.
Police found the driver not breathing, commenced CPR until medical personnel arrived but Eaglechief died at the scene.
The Saskatchewan Coroners Service is responsible for the investigation of all sudden unexpected deaths. The coroner’s jury may make recommendations to prevent similar deaths.
