A gala Gatsby Night that was a major fundraiser for Autism Services of Saskatoon was postponed last spring because of COVID-19 and rescheduled for October.
That has been cancelled, with another fundraiser in its place.
Autism Services has launched its Sponsor-A-Child Campaign, raising funds so children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder can take part in therapeutic, recreational, and social programs.
Spokesperson Carol Tebay says these programs and day camps help the children and youth to build friendships and social skills in a supported environment.
Because there is a higher staff to client ratio, the registration doesn’t cover all the expenses, and that’s where this fundraiser comes in.
Many of the sponsors from the Gatsby Night switched their support to the child sponsorship campaign, Tebay says, so they are already more than half way to their goal of $40-thousand.
You can donate directly or have a fundraiser of your own to support the Sponsor-A-Child Campaign.
