Today (mon) is the day Canadians can access to two new COVID-19 benefits. One is a $500 per week caregiver subsidy. This is for anyone who must care for their child under 12 years old or a family member who needs supervised care. This applies if their school, regular program or facility is closed or unavailable to them due to COVID-19, or because they’re sick, self-isolating, or at risk of serious health complications due to COVID-19
The second is a sick leave benefit that pays up to one thousand dollars over two weeks if you are sick with COVID-19 or have to self isolate because of the virus. It also applies if you have an underlying health condition that puts you at greater risk of getting COVID-19.
