Today’s candidate profile for the upcoming civic election features Nick Sackville, who is running in Ward 3.
The government relations and member engagement manager with the Saskatoon & Region Home Builders Association says his top priorities as a Councillor would be public safety, affordability and more amenities for the west side.
Sackville emphasizes police and fire need adequate resources, but to tackle the challenges with crimes and addition you need to get to the root of the problem so he would advocate for more resources for youth programs for gang prevention, supporting addiction recovery and for mental health.
He would also like to see more recreation spaces and other services on the west side.
Sackville has lived in Ward 3 for most of his life so he is familiar with its strengths and challenges and he is also familiar with municipal processes and procedures, so he believes he can bring those experiences together to provide a strong voice at City Hall for his Ward.
Sackville also wants to keep any tax increases minimal and use tax dollars wisely.
He gives the example of using local consultants and contractors on projects so the tax dollars stay in the community.
