Saskatchewan in Motion suggests we should all turn away from our screens and get ‘ralking’. Ralking is walking while looking for or hiding painted rocks.
Spokesperson Kim Herperger says the idea was inspired by the kindness project where painted rocks with positive comments are scattered outside for people to find. In motion has 30 specially painted rocks hidden around the province and the first 12 people to post pictures can win a prize pack.
The contest ends October 12th, but Herperger hopes people will continue on with the activity because it increases creativity, promotes getting outside in the fresh air, and being more active.
Some schools are taking up the activity.
Herperger says teachers have told her it’s a great stress reliever and it’s a way to get the students outside.
Herperger also suggests, if it’s possible, having students walk to school instead of getting a ride or taking the bus.
