The candidate nomination period for the provincial election ended Saturday at 2 p.m. with a total of 236 candidates officially filing their nomination papers with their local returning office.
Dr. Michael Boda, Chief Electoral Officer says an indicator of a healthy democracy is participation from candidates who choose to let their name appear on provincial election ballots, with representation from all six registered political parties in Saskatchewan plus three independent candidates. All of them will now appear on ballots in their respective constituencies when advance voting begins Oct. 20.
With the close of nominations, ballot printing will begin. A total of 1,336,000 ballots will be printed and then distributed to the 61 constituencies prior to the advance voting period.
