Following last week’s Ministry of Health approval of the Saskatchewan Hockey Association’s Return to Play plan, a couple of competitive, age restricted leagues have begun the process of looking ahead to actual games.
The Prairie Junior League’s Fort Knox franchise has scheduled a couple of home exhibition games for consecutive Fridays…October 17 against the Regina Silver Foxes and October 24 when the Regina Capitals visit Fort Qu’Appelle.
Meanwhile, the Saskatchewan Female Under-18 AAA League says they will start the 2020-21 season with their seven teams split into two divisions. Those teams will only play each other until at least January 18 when inter-divisional games could happen, pending control of COVID-19 cases. The divisions will be Saskatoon, Prince Albert and the Battlefords; Regina, Swift Current, Notre Dame and Weyburn. The schedule will feature 28 games from November until the end of March, home-and-home and only on weekends. The league will shut down from December 17-31. Games cancelled by winter weather will not be made up and there will be no tournaments or inter-provincial play. Masks must be worn by everyone entering the arena with fans required to sign an attendance registration list. Fan capacity will be either 50 per cent of seating capacity in arenas with assigned seating or a 150-person limit in arenas without assigned seating.

| Sask Hockey Association announced its Return to Play Hockey plan with the approval from Ministry of Health.
Some of the details from the Return to Play; SFU18AAA will start the season playing games within regional based divisions. The South will have Regina, Notre Dame, Swift Current & Weyburn. The North will have Battlefords, Saskatoon & Prince Albert. The league is aiming to play a 28 game schedule from November to the end of March. The schedule will be played only on weekends with teams playing the same opponent in a home and away set. Any games cancelled due to winter weather or COVID will not be made up. Teams can begin exhibition play from October 17 to 31. League will shut down from December 17 to 31. After January 18 the league will play crossover games versus the opposite division, this is all dependent on the COVID cases being under control. Face coverings (Masks) are required by every person entering an arena in the province, fans attending the game must sign a attendance registration list. All teams will follow the attendance limits as laid out in the guideline. SHA has indicated there will be no tournaments and no inter provincial games played this year. |
