The Town of Nipawin has suggested businesses assign one or two people, wearing masks or gloves, to hand out candy to trick or treaters so there are fewer people involved in the handling process.
Chelsea Corrigan, Director of Parks and Recreation for the Town of Nipawin says they also ask businesses to post trick or treat times in their windows so families know when they can participate.
But to make it a little more fun, on the Halloween that lands on a Saturday during a pandemic, they are suggesting residents put a purple pumpkin, home-made or otherwise, in the windows of their homes to let trick or treaters know which houses are prepared to receive them.
Corrigan says some of their other suggestions include setting up a table to keep distance, bag the candy individually, maybe even open up the garage so they can ensure social distancing while handing out candy and that parents accompany children to ensure protocols are being adhered to.
