Mayoralty candidate Don Atchison says he would push for and access government incentive programs and collaborative efforts in both the public and private sectors, to ensure long-term good-paying employment in Saskatoon. Atchison emphasizes the importance of Saskatoon again being recognized nationally as a business-friendly city. He says it is business that drives our economy. Atchison says, “I would also immediately voice my opposition to new federal legislation – namely Bill C46 and Bill C69 – which harms our resource sector, which then impacts employees and hundreds of local suppliers in the oil and gas and mining industries.”
Atchison says, as mayor, he would bring together the various business groups to develop an effective business development strategy. He would also resume his work to attract foreign direct investment, particularly by making connections with local established companies as partners.
Atchison says, Charlie Clark’s record of fire pits taking two years to resolve, along with bike lanes on 4th Avenue taking over 3 years to remove, and the turning down of a $1 billion development project, is not the type of leadership Saskatoon needs.
