Mayoral candidate Charlie Clark says Saskatoon needs to be part of the economy of the future and he can help to move the City forward, ensuring good jobs now and in the future. He has announced both a short term and long term plan for economic recovery.
Clark’s short term plan to support the local economy through the pandemic is to be flexible with regulations, similar to what was done to allow restaurants to implement more sidewalk and parking patios to give them more space for customers. He also suggest a ‘winter animation’ strategy to build as much activity into winter as possible, to get people out supporting our local hotels, restaurants, destinations and shops.
The long term plan includes promoting Saskatoon in the global economy. One suggestion is to build a food and ingredients food processing hub in the region, working with Corman Park, SREDA, USask and industry partners. Another is to expand Saskatoon’s booming tech sector economy by building a centre for excellence in agriculture and technology.
The civic election is November 9th.
