Don Atchison promises if elected, there will be no property tax increase next year and suggests some of the ways to make that happen are putting the new landfill project on hold, no bike lanes on 3rd Avenue, cutting the $19-billion environmental program and pausing the plans for Bus Rapid Transit. He is in favour of a new solution for the Lighthouse and believes it should be moved out of downtown.
Atchison points to a few of the achievements on Council when he was Mayor, including the construction of Circle Drive South, the development of the west side communities of Hampton Village, Kensington and Blairmore and the development of River Landing. Atchison says he is exceedingly disappointed that the Farmers’ Market was moved out of the River Landing site.
He is in favour of removing the rail lines through Saskatoon, an entertainment area downtown and Frequent Bus Service instead of the BRT.
