Shortly before 9:30 Wednesday morning police, fire and ambulance were called out to an accident on Circle Drive involving three super-B semi tractor trailers. The accident occurred in the northbound lanes of the overpass going over College Drive. A 51 year old man was pronounced deceased at the scene, one other driver was not hurt and a third driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The northbound lanes of Circle Drive were detoured for the remainder of the day through evening rush hour with traffic backed up past Taylor Street as the Collision Analyst Unit investigated the scene.
There was also an accident several hours earlier on Circle Drive. Around six o’clock Wednesday morning, Saskatoon Police responded to a three-vehicle collision on Circle Drive, north of the 108th Street exit. A south-bound vehicle rear-ended a pick-up truck, causing it to collide with a light pole. A north-bound semi-truck driver tried to avoid the collision, but the load of metal lengths became unsecured and came through the cab of the semi. No injuries were reported. The driver that rear-ended the truck was charged with Driving Without Reasonable Consideration For Others. The investigation is ongoing.
