What started as a pair of fairly routine traffic stops turned into two vehicle seizures, two arrests and lots of seized illicit drugs (pictured).
The first vehicle stop took place around 2:30 on Tuesday afternoon west of Kindersley on Highway 7. It was supposed to be for a driver’s license and vehicle registration check, but quickly turned into a drug investigation on the lone occupant. The R-C-M-P arrested 34-year-old Clinton James Senko of Saskatoon, charging him with possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution after five large garbage bags with about 99 pounds of cannabis was found following a search of the vehicle.
On Wednesday, around 3:30 p.m., again west of Kindersley on Highway 7, 33-year-old Matthew Lewis Davey of Strathmore, Alberta, was pulled over for speeding. Once again, speeding turned into a drug investigation. A police service dog helped police seized 850 grams of cocaine and seven pounds of cannabis, leading to Davey’s arrest for possession of a controlled substance. In addition, he was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution.
Both men have appeared before a Justice of the Peace and released with several conditions. Both are slated to make court appearances on December 15th in Kindersley.
