Mayoral candidate Rob Norris will advocate for a municipal immigrant nominee program for Saskatoon which would complement the provincial program.
He suggests it will support economic immigration, help to grow Saskatoon’s economy and to foster entrepreneurial and direct foreign investment in the city.
Norris says an immigrant nominee program would bring in more jobs and career opportunities, while also being more welcoming.
The federal government announced a Municipal Nominee Program during last year’s election with details expected this fall.
He believes, if elected mayor, his relationships with both the federal and provincial governments would be helpful in the implementation of this program.
