Stabbing Saskatoon
The Saskatoon Police Service says it was called to St. Paul’s Hospital around 9:30 last night where a man was being treated for non-life threatening stab wounds. He told officers he’d been involved in a fight, was injured and made his way on foot to the hospital. It’s believe the suspect and the victim know each other. The Serious Assault Unit continues to investigate the stabbing which occurred in the 17-hundred block of 20th Street West.
Stolen Vehicle and Evade Police
Saskatoon Police say officers tried to pull over a vehicle believed stolen around 2 a.m. Thursday morning but the car sped off. Police successfully deployed stud belts twice, however, the driver kept driving the car on damaged tires. The vehicle was abandoned at 22nd Street West and Witney Avenue. A Canine track led officers to a suspect trying to hide in a garden shed in the 300 block of Montreal Avenue South. He was treated for a dog bite after being taken into custody with help from a Police Service Dog. The 23 year old man is charged with Dangerous Driving, Evade Police Possession of Break and Enter Tools, Break and Enter, and Possession of Stolen Property.
Suspicious Death Northern Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit is investigating after a man was found dead in his home in Southend. Police say the injuries he suffered as well as encounters the victim had before he died, lead them to believe it is a suspicious death. An autopsy was undertaken by the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service on Monday and RCMP state, “Additional medical expert assessments have been requested.” Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Saskatchewan RCMP, the Southend RCMP Detachment or through Crime Stoppers. RCMP do not believe there is a risk to public safety in connection with the suspicious death. Southend is 220 kilometres northeast of La Ronge.
Homicide in Moose Jaw
Moose Jaw Police were called out to an attack in the city’s downtown around 3:20 Wednesday afternoon and found a man who had been stabbed. The 33 year old victim died at the scene. The RCMP Emergency Response Team assisted police when the investigation led to a home seven blocks east of the crime scene where a 33 year old man had barricaded himself inside. Around 3 a.m. Thursday morning RCMP ERT entered the home and arrested the suspect. Moose Jaw Police continue to investigate the homicide.
Home Invasion and Assault
Kitscoty RCMP say two men and two women have been arrested in connection to a home invasion, robbery where a gun was used and aggravated assault. Two adult victims suffered injuries in the incident which RCMP do not believe is random. Two women, 46 year old Tamara Nell and 24 year old Jordan Lysohirka, were arrested and charged but police have not yet identified the two men involved. Anyone with information about the home invasion and assault are asked to contact Kitscoty RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
