The Saskatchewan Medical Association has named its second annual Leader of the Year awards to a physician, resident and student.
The SMA says the awards are in recognition of the integral role physicians play in the health system. The awards were presented virtually Friday to Dr. Veronica McKinney for Physician Leader of the Year, Dr. Emmett Harrison for Resident Leader of the Year and Kate Morrison for Student Leader of the Year.
Dr. Mckinney is the director of Northern Medical Services, assistant professor and chair of the Indigenous Health Committee at the University of Saskatchewan, Dr. Harrison a family medicine resident in Swift Current, and Morrison is a fourth year medical student at the College of Medicine, of the University of Saskatchewan.
SMA President Barb Konstantynowicz says the candidates exemplify the best that the Saskatchewan medical community has to offer.
