It has only been a week since the provincial election, but it’s not time to retire your voting cap yet. Advance polls for the upcoming municipal election in Saskatoon are open until November 5th. In Saskatoon, if you receive a mail-in ballot today, you will now have to drop it off in person at the election office.
Returning Officer Scott Bastian says the process for mail-in ballots is a bit different from the provincial system.
The provincial election mail-in ballots weren’t counted on election night. And ballots from the provincial election received up to and including today will be counted in the final official tally which is expected Wednesday – on November 7th.
With Saskatoon’s civic election, because they are expecting such a high number of mail-in ballots, with more than 14-thousand by midweek last week, it was decided to begin opening the mail-in ballots on November 6th and inserting them into the tabulator through the weekend, leading up to election night on the 9th.
That means there should be no delay in tabulating the full results on election night. You can check out where and when the advance polls are here.
