Saskatchewan’s Premier-Elect says we are at a fork in the road and now is the opportunity to take a different path.
Saskatchewan is facing the COVID-19 numbers that Manitoba had two or three weeks ago.
Scott Moe hopes the mandatory masks as of Friday at public indoor spaces for Saskatoon, Regina and Prince Albert, which have the highest rate of new cases, will help to slow transmission down, along with shrinking household limits for gatherings at ten people.
He points to the high number of cases in Manitoba and says if Saskatchewan people are vigilant around the safety guidelines, we could see a different outcome, but it takes everyone to do so.

Chief Medical Health Officer, Dr. Saqib Shahab says looking at the history of transmission in this province, it began with travelers, then localized outbreaks and now we are seeing sustained increases in several parts of the province.
The numbers began rising in Prince Albert because of a large worship event, in Regina it’s more about household transmission and in Saskatoon, there were large events and now the secondary impacts from that and now an outbreak at the Lighthouse.
Dr. Shahab considers this rise in numbers the first true test for this province in turning things around, and because the numbers were low in the beginning, he says this is really our first wave of COVID-19, not our second.
