Premier Scott Moe kept some of his Ministers in the same roles they were in before the election, but there was also some cabinet shuffling.
One of those shuffles was to install Paul Merriman as the new Health Minister, replacing Jim Reiter, who is now the Minister of SaskBuilds and Procurement, the Minister Responsible for the Public Service Commission and Minister Responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority. As Health Minister, Merriman takes over an area that many are looking at as Saskatchewan deals with a huge increase in COVID-19 cases with no signs of those high cases slowing down anytime soon.
Merriman says as he takes over, he is very uncomfortable with the way the numbers are at this time. Until a vaccine comes along, he wants the public to know the public health regulations in place are to help protect them, their family and friends, elders, grandparents, people in long term care and people at risk.
Merriman says his first order of business is to sit down with ministry officials, the Saskatchewan Health Authority and the chief medical health officer so he can get on the same page as quickly as possible. (CKRM)
