51 year-old Christopher Murray has been sentenced to three years in prison after he was charged earlier this year for stealing an SUV with a child inside, evading police and dangerous driving.
The incident unfolded on June 3rd around 5 o’clock in the afternoon in the 33 hundred block of 37th Street. The child jumped out when the vehicle was moving after realizing it had been stolen, although the 9 year-old boy was not injured.
RCMP and Saskatoon Police located and followed the SUV to the Osler and back into the city. Police then used a spike belt to stop the car in the 100 block of Marquis Drive.
He then fled on foot to a parking lot were citizens getting groceries contacted police to give them his location.
