Each Legion has its own plans for Remembrance Day, but because of COVID-19, the plans are a bit different from last year, taking into consideration the health protocols in each province.
The Nutana Legion in Saskatoon is scheduled to open at 10 in the morning to allow people to watch the virtual ceremony, which is being televised on Shaw Cable at 10:30 and it will be streamed on saskatoonremembers.ca
Because of the guidelines around six people per table and tables six feet apart, the numbers will be limited. Spokesperson Bill Flahr says they will be able to accommodate about 150 guests between the lounge and the hall and there will be a sign-in sheet at the door for contact tracing.
In the basement of the Legion is the Saskatoon Museum of Military Artifacts which will also be open with a 15 person limit at any given time. Spokesperson Michael Diegel says there are thousands of artifacts, and all of them have been donated by veterans, family members of veterans and others interested in preserving Canada’s military heritage.
