Mayoral candidate Don Atchison says he started his campaign saying the latest Council has a bleak and dismal record and this snow event proves the City of Saskatoon needs strong leadership, experience and proven results and he believes he is the one for the job.
He questions why there was an emergency Council briefing with Administration on Wednesday, when the election is on Friday and says if there is to be something like that, then all candidates should be involved, otherwise it is improper.
Atchison was mayor in 2007 during the last major snowfall event, which he believes was handled more efficiently.
On the eve of election day after an extension from Monday, Atchison says he feels for the volunteers who were waiting for Monday night and then with three hours to go, it was postponed.
He says procrastination isn’t the best way to go.
The mayoral candidate adds that these volunteers have other jobs and responsibilities so this extension may have added some extra stress.
