The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation is calling on the Sask. Party government to increase efforts to limit community spread of COVID-19. Specifically, it wants the government to expand mandatory mask-wearing across the province, suspend extracurricular activities until case counts are significantly lower, direct school boards to restrict community-based activities in schools, and limit the number of schools each staff member can attend.
The Federation says it stands by the hundreds of Saskatchewan physicians who have urged the government to take action to reverse the rising case counts. STF President
Patrick Maze goes so far as to say that he believes the estimated case counts are four to six times higher than what we are being told.
Earlier this week, we learned that 260 Saskatchewan physicians had sent a letter to the premier saying in the last 30 days the number of active cases in Saskatchewan had increased 700%, causing hospitals to become full and ICU’s at 130% capacity.
The letter asks Premier Scott Moe to act, with sufficient force, to reverse the rising daily case counts.
