Two employers have pleaded guilty to charges in separate violations under Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
A numbered Manitoba company, operating as Matt Reimer Construction, pleaded guilty in Saskatoon Provincial Court to violating one count under the regulations.
The charge resulted from an incident on May 9th, 2019, near Plenty, Saskatchewan. A worker died after being struck by a steel tube of a lifting device.
The company was fined $65,000 with a surcharge of $26,000, for a total of $91,000.
In an unrelated matter, Spade Oilfield Ltd., operating as Thiessen Oilfield Services, pleaded guilty to one count in Kindersley Provincial Court.
An incident occurred on July 6, 2018, on a worksite near Coleville. A worker was seriously injured when struck by a hose coupler.
The company was fined $28,571.43 plus a surcharge of $11,428.57, totaling $40,000.
