Construction is moving ahead on an expansion to the Neonatal Special Care Unit at the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority selected Quorex Construction of Saskatoon as the successful bidder on the $2 million dollar project. Funding will come from the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital Foundation.
The facility will serve higher risk babies and families from across northern Saskatchewan.
Construction is to be completed next July, with a plan to be operational in late summer. The expanded unit will have space to accommodate up to 11 medically fragile babies and their families. Prince Albert is the third largest high risk maternal care site in Saskatchewan.
The project will become a Level 2 neonatal intensive care unit.
