Around 8 o’clock Thursday night, the Yorkton RCMP along with other emergency services responded to a collision on Highway 16 near Springside. The collision involved a semi and an SUV.

In a news release, the RCMP say there was no third vehicle involved in the accident as was first reported. The driver of the SUV was killed in the collision and at this time efforts are ongoing to identify the lone occupant of the SUV and notify their next of kin.

The driver of the semi was sustained minor injuries and was treated at the hospital in Yorkton and has since been released.

The highway was closed for several hours and re-opened around 6:30 Friday morning. The investigation is continuing.
