Despite efforts to resuscitate a one year old boy in Canora early Saturday morning by family, the RCMP and EMS, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.
This from the Saskatchewan RCMP which reports that the local detachment received a call about an infant requiring urgent medical attention at a home on the 200 block of Northern Avenue.
Based on the nature of the injuries and the initial investigation by police, Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit South was called to take over the investigation.
Local area RCMP detachment are assisting along with the Yorkton RCMP Forensic Identification Section, Yorkton Child and Family Services, an RCMP investigator from the Regina Children’s Justice Centre and the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service.
An autopsy was scheduled to take place Monday in Saskatoon.
RCMP Victim Services has been in contact with the family to provide support.
