The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 in Pelican Narrows. The declaration for Pelican Narrows was made after the community saw an increasing number of confirmed cases with evidence of community transmission.
Meanwhile, the outbreak declared in Red Earth Cree Nation has now ended. The Medical Health Officer declared the outbreak over after the standard 28 day period had passed after the onset of the last case that had potential to contribute to transmission in the community.
The health authority says prevention is still the best way to protect yourself by wearing face masks, maintaining 2 metres physical distance, washing your hands, and staying home if you’re sick. A list of outbreaks in the province can be found here.
