The Canoe Lake Cree First Nation housing authority has posted a notice on its Facebook page that due to rising numbers of COVID-19 in the community and surrounding area, there will be no house parties on reserve and anyone caught hosting a house party will be served with a warning of eviction notice. If it happens twice, an immediate eviction notice will be served. The memo also stipulates there is to be no drugs or alcohol on the reserve. As well, any non band member found partying or in-community will be escorted off the reserve. The notice was as per the Housing Director, Chief and Council, and the Pandemic Committee. As of their last update the community was reporting 14 active cases and two people hospitalized.
