A new agreement between the University of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Polytechnic means mining engineering technology students will be able to receive a Sask Polytech diploma and a USask degree after only five years of study.
The new agreement allows students enrolled in Sask Polytech’s Mining Engineering Technology program to transfer into the Bachelor of Science in Engineering – Geological Engineering program at the U of S.
Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan, Suzanne Kresta says they’re committed to diversifying and growing their enrollment, so that the school’s students bring a variety of experiences and perspectives into the classroom.
Kresta adds this agreement does that. Students must meet the admission requirements at the University of Saskatchewan to transfer into the four-year Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree.
A joint news release from the two schools says the partnership is a one-year pilot that will benefit students pursuing a career in mining.
