Saskatoon Light & Power have to reinstall holiday decorations that adorn the University bridge. That will take place from 10 this morning until 1 in the afternoon.
Saskatoon Light & Power had purchased new seasonal decorations but in the winter storm and extreme winds on the weekend of November 7th, it was only the ones on the University Bridge, not for instance, the Broadway Bridge, which suffered damage.
Saskatoon Light & Power says the University Bridge decorations were significantly larger than the previous ones which made them more susceptible to wind. The weld keeping them in place didn’t hold and the necessary repairs have to be made. So it’s back to the tried and true. The red poinsetias that have been used in previous years are being put up today. The new decorations will be repaired, stored, and used again next year.
The city reminds motorists it is a moving work zone and will impact traffic in both directions.
